Terms of Service
Effective Date: April 1, 2026 · Last Updated: April 13, 2026
Welcome to Buddhist Therapy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Buddhist Therapy ("we," "us," "our," or the "Company"), governing your access to and use of the Buddhist Therapy platform, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service") available at buddhist-therapy.com.
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Nature of the Service
1.1 What We Offer
Buddhist Therapy provides supportive conversations inspired by Buddhist wisdom and modern therapeutic approaches. Our platform offers users the opportunity to engage in guided dialogue rooted in contemplative traditions, including but not limited to mindfulness, compassion-based practices, and insights drawn from the Buddhist canon and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
1.2 What We Do Not Offer
Buddhist Therapy is not a healthcare provider. The Service does not constitute medical advice, psychological counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, or any form of licensed professional therapy. The conversations conducted through our platform are not a substitute for professional medical care, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed healthcare provider.
No doctor-patient, therapist-client, or any other professional-client relationship is formed by your use of the Service. No privilege — including but not limited to therapist-client privilege, physician-patient privilege, or any similar legal protection — attaches to any communication conducted through the Service.
1.3 Crisis Situations
Buddhist Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, suicidal thoughts, or any situation that poses an immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others, you must:
- Call emergency services (911 in the United States)
- Contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988
- Go to your nearest emergency room
- Contact a licensed mental health professional
We do not monitor conversations in real time and cannot intervene in crisis situations. By using the Service, you acknowledge that it is not designed or equipped to handle emergencies.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is greater), to access or use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly provide the Service to individuals under the applicable minimum age.
3. Account Registration and Authentication
3.1 Account Creation
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address. We use a magic link authentication system — a secure, one-time login link is sent to your email address each time you wish to access your account. No password is created or stored.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining access to the email account associated with your Buddhist Therapy account. You agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access to or use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your email account.
3.3 Account Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate and current information during registration and to update such information as necessary to keep it accurate and current.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Pricing
The Service offers the following pricing options, which may be updated from time to time at our sole discretion:
- Introductory Session: $49 for a first session
- Individual Session: $79 per session
- Monthly Practice Subscription: $149 per month
Current pricing is always displayed on our website. We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time, with changes taking effect for new purchases or subscription renewals occurring after the effective date of the change.
4.2 Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"), our third-party payment processor. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy. We do not store, access, or retain your full credit card number, debit card number, or bank account information. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
4.3 Subscription Terms
Monthly Practice subscriptions automatically renew on the same date each month unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the Service through the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds are issued for partial billing periods.
4.4 Refund Policy
All purchases are final and non-refundable. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge and agree that you are not entitled to any refund under any circumstances. The Service is delivered digitally and immediately upon your scheduled session time. There are no exceptions to this policy.
5. Session Scheduling and Usage
5.1 Booking
Sessions may be booked through the platform's scheduling system. Upon booking, you will receive a confirmation and a reminder prior to your scheduled session. A private session link will be provided to you before the session begins.
5.2 No-Show and Forfeiture Policy
Sessions not used within twenty-four (24) hours of the scheduled booking time are considered forfeited. Forfeited sessions cannot be rescheduled or credited. It is your sole responsibility to attend sessions at the time you have booked. No exceptions.
5.3 Subscription Session Limits
Monthly Practice subscriptions include up to ten (10) sessions per billing cycle. Unused sessions do not carry over to subsequent billing cycles.
6. Ephemeral Nature of Conversations
All conversations conducted through the Service are entirely ephemeral. Chat messages exist only in volatile memory for the duration of the active session and are permanently destroyed when the session ends. No conversation content is stored, logged, recorded, archived, or transmitted to any third party. We cannot retrieve, reproduce, or provide copies of past conversations under any circumstances, including in response to legal process, because such data does not exist.
For comprehensive information about our data practices, please review our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any purpose that is illegal or prohibited by these Terms
- Attempt to harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate any individual through the Service
- Attempt to extract information that could be used to harm yourself or others
- Use the Service to generate, solicit, or disseminate content that promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity

- Use any automated means, including bots, scrapers, or spiders, to access the Service
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or entity
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, without notice or compensation of any kind, if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated any provision of this Section.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, features, functionality, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, software, and all other materials available through the Service (collectively, "Content") are owned by Buddhist Therapy or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, trade dress, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any Content without our prior written consent.
The Buddhist Therapy name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Buddhist Therapy. You may not use such marks without our prior written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Buddhist Therapy expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Any warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or information provided through the Service
- Any warranty that the Service will meet your requirements or expectations
- Any warranty regarding the results or outcomes that may be obtained from the use of the Service
We make no guarantees regarding the effectiveness, suitability, or outcome of any conversation, guidance, practice, or suggestion provided through the Service. Any reliance you place on information or guidance obtained through the Service is strictly at your own risk.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BUDDHIST THERAPY, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, OR ASSIGNS BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
- Any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service
- Any damages arising from any content, information, or guidance obtained through the Service
- Any damages arising from unauthorized access to or alteration of your account or data
- Any damages arising from any decisions, actions, or omissions you make based on conversations conducted through the Service
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BUDDHIST THERAPY SHALL HAVE ZERO LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. YOU USE THE SERVICE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. BUDDHIST THERAPY'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY, IF ANY LIABILITY IS FOUND TO EXIST DESPITE THIS LIMITATION, SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO U.S. DOLLARS ($0).
You expressly acknowledge that Buddhist Therapy provides conversational support only and assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any outcome, decision, action, or consequence arising from your use of the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow the complete exclusion of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law, which in no event shall exceed one U.S. dollar ($1).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Buddhist Therapy and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of or access to the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of any third party
- Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Service
- Any decisions, actions, or omissions you make based on conversations conducted through the Service
This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.
12. Dispute Resolution and Binding Arbitration
12.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceeding, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Most concerns can be resolved promptly through good-faith discussion.
12.2 Binding Arbitration
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days, you and Buddhist Therapy each agree to resolve any claim, dispute, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court. Arbitration shall be administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitration shall be conducted by a single arbitrator, in the English language, and shall take place in the State of Delaware or at another mutually agreed location. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
12.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND BUDDHIST THERAPY EACH AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If, for any reason, a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, you and Buddhist Therapy each waive any right to a jury trial. You agree that you may bring claims against Buddhist Therapy only in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.
12.4 Exceptions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law principles. To the extent that litigation is permitted under these Terms, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware.
14. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your account at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must discontinue your use of the Service before the effective date.
15. Termination
15.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to access the Service will cease immediately. Any prepaid but unused sessions are forfeited upon account termination.
15.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, at our sole discretion. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, fraudulent or illegal activity, or conduct that we determine to be harmful to the Service, other users, or our interests.
15.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, all provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including without limitation Sections 8 through 13 (Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, and Governing Law).
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Buddhist Therapy regarding the Service and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, proposals, and communications, whether oral or written.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, severed from these Terms. The invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability of any provision shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision of these Terms.
16.3 Waiver
The failure of Buddhist Therapy to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be effective only if in writing and signed by Buddhist Therapy.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights or obligations hereunder without our prior written consent. We may freely assign these Terms without restriction. Subject to the foregoing, these Terms shall be binding upon and inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective successors and assigns.
16.5 Force Majeure
Buddhist Therapy shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism, epidemics, government actions, power failures, internet or telecommunications failures, or any other force majeure event.
17. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of these Terms. We encourage you to review it carefully, particularly regarding the ephemeral nature of conversations conducted through the Service.
